Direct Object
A direct object follows an action verb and tells who or what receives the action.
We can answer these three questions to find the direct object (D. O.) of a sentence:
- What is the verb in the sentence?
- Is it an action verb?
- Who or what receives the action? (direct object)
We will follow the steps above to examine these sentences:
A gardener plants bluebonnets.
